Our Austin clients wanted to transform a tight, dark second-story bathroom into a bright, spa-like retreat. Working within the existing footprint, we rethought the space to create a more open and relaxing bathroom centered around a bubbling soaking tub for two, heated floors, and soft Venetian plaster walls.
The goal was to make this compact bathroom feel calm, warm, and restorative without adding square footage. The oversized soaking tub became the centerpiece of the room, creating a true place to unwind while still allowing the bathroom to feel open and functional.
The Venetian plaster walls add subtle movement and texture while keeping the overall palette light and serene. Combined with the brighter finishes and improved use of natural light, they help transform what was once a dark upstairs bathroom into a space that feels airy, warm, and inviting.
Heated floors add everyday comfort and make the room feel even more luxurious, especially during cooler months. Every element was selected to make the bathroom feel more comfortable and relaxing without sacrificing practicality.
Because the bathroom is located on the second floor and has a limited footprint, careful planning was especially important. We worked within the existing space to improve the layout, incorporate the larger soaking tub, and make the room feel more open and functional without expanding the footprint.
